We have a lot of young men who call themselves Sampo – they say it’s all about economic and social pressures but I don’t know their real reasons. It’s not a Korean problem only – in Japan, they have “Satori” which means almost the same thing and in China, they call it “tang ping”. It’s a serious problem in Asia and that’s exactly why lots of Korean wives got married to Westerners – Western men are usually more serious about relationships and marriage.

Yes! I chatted with 4 guys and I met 2 of them (1 in China, 1 in Korea). One of these two was… not exactly what I was looking for, he thought Korean mail order brides must be “easy”, you know, sex on the first date and all that, just because he’s white-skinned. Well, that’s not how it works with Korean women. The second one was very cool, kind, and respectful! His name was Robert and he was just, wow. We stopped our communication, unfortunately – he didn’t tell me exactly the reasons to stop it but it looked like he found an Asian woman in another country (maybe even in the US).
What do you like about Western men and what you don’t like?

I’m not the most experiences Korean woman in this regard, as you can see! But from my experience and from some Korean mail order wives I chatted with, I can safely say that it’s all about serious intentions and respect. American men on online dating sites – are usually in their 30s and 40s – most of them search for something more serious than just a one-night stand. As for respect, I don’t know, maybe it’s about Korean society and American society – it looks like in the US, they just treat their women better and more like equals. Well, first of all, what works for me might not work for other Korean brides you’ll meet online – people are different and we all have different views, values, and preferences. If you want to attract a young, modern Korean woman, I believe you need to have modern values – don’t expect Korean ladies to be too conservative, we don’t want to be “traditional” stay-at-home wives anymore. And of course, you should be able to wait – don’t expect sex on the first date and don’t think Korean women are easy. We are not!

How to bring a Korean wife to the USA?

- First, the US citizen sponsor (you must be a US citizen to do it) should file Form I-129F. It’s the Petition for Alien Fiancee – you must file it with the USCIS office.
- When the petition is approved, it’ll be sent to the National Visa Center. The Visa Center will provide you a case number and send the petition to the embassy/consulate in Korea.
- After that, your Korean bride will need to complete Form DS-160 – it’s the application for a visa. She’ll have to print the confirmation page and to bring it to the visa interview.
- You will have to submit Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) to prove you’re able to support your bride financially.
- When it’s done, your bride will attend the interview – she’ll have to prove your relationship is real and genuine.
- After that, she’ll be able to enter the US – you’ll have to marry within 90 days after the arrival.

South Korean ladies are not gold-diggers and they are not scammers – most Korean wives you’ll meet online are real women searching for a foreign husband or boyfriend.
